We're sitting at a Portland, OR suite (nice!) exchanging gifts...mine include a 60-euro bank note, a mega-backpack and Frommer's guide to Spain. My thoughts undeniably wander to the journey approaching. NERVOUS, of course. Excited, definitely.
My Uncle's dad, "Grandpa Butch," as we call him, has been to the Basque Country. He told me I should prepare my butt for this trip. WhIt made sense, once he explained what he meant: apparently, blondish hair is so rare in Spain that I should expect to get pinched on the butt by multiple male admirers! Okay...being admired is okay with me, but I hope this is an exaggeration, otherwise the Spanish macho complex and I will definitely not get along!
